The 2011/2012 top scorers were van Persie (30), Rooney (27) and Agüero (23). Robin van Persie and Rooney are now on the same team and will be sharing time in front of opposing goals. That will make it hard for any of them to score more than 25 goals.
Agüero will still be a key figure up front for Man City so he has a chance to repeat his performance or even do better.
Drogba is gone and Torres is now “the man” at Chelsea. He will score more than 15 goals if injury does not keep him out for long periods. If he is scoring and he finds his touch again and if Mata and Torres strike a good partnership, Torres will score about 18 goals this season.
Papiss Demba Cissé of Newcastle was very impressive last season with 13 goals. I expect more than 20 goals from him this season.
Olivier Giroud now plays for Arsenal after scoring 21 goals in 36 league appearances for French champions Montpellier. Giroud was joint top goalscorer last season and he was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year. With the departure of van Persie a lot is expected of Giroud this season.
MY PICK FOR GOLDEN BOOT: Agüero of Manchester City
